For more than 75 years, WTU Retail Energy and its predecessors have provided electricity to households and businesses in West Texas, including Abilene, San Angelo and Alpine. Today, we seek to be your electricity partner, offering stable, long-term, customer-focused service. In addition, WTU remains committed to supporting the communities where our customers live and work.

WTU is part of the Direct Energy family of companies, which serve over 5 million customers throughout the US and Canada, and is the third largest competitive electricity provider in Texas. Across Texas, we directly and indirectly employ 1,500 of your friends and neighbors. Our family of companies owns three power plants in Texas: the Frontera Energy Center in Mission, the Bastrop Energy Center near Austin and the Paris Energy Center in Paris. Additionally, we have agreements to buy the electricity from five wind energy power plants in Texas – three in Taylor County, one in San Angelo County and one in Abilene County.
